Press Release;
Friends of the Free Throw Foundation Launch

The Free Throw Foundation are thrilled to launch the ‘The Friends of the Free Throw Foundation’ initiative.

The Free Throw Foundation’s sole purpose is to assist the youth of South Australia overcome barriers (including financial) to playing basketball. Through the foundation’s Assist funding program, young and aspiring athletes and their families located in both metropolitan and regional South Australia are able to apply for financial assistance to get them on basketball courts across our state.

To raise its funds, the Free Throw Foundation hosts fundraising events throughout the year and also receives generous donations from individuals and businesses all over Australia. The basketball community is strong in its support of each other and the foundation is grateful to all who have contributed financially or with their time and effort, to enable over 60 young basketball players get onto the court since its inception in 2013. Based on the feedback provided by the basketball community, we have established The Friends of the Free Throw Foundation program for the generous members of the community whom wish to show their support on a regular basis, but may be unable to attend any or all of the events.

Free Throw Foundation Chairman Brad Haydon said today ‘On behalf of the board of the Free Throw Foundation, I am delighted to announce the ‘Friends of the Free Throw Foundation’ program. The Foundation is incredibly fortunate to have a significant number of consistent supporters since its establishment, this program allows us to both track and acknowledge those supporters whilst also raising needed funds to support the foundations goals. The funds raised will go directly back into the SA basketball community.

I firmly believe the foundation has changed lives and I would encourage anyone who is interested in supporting those disadvantaged in the basketball community to become a Friend of the Free Throw Foundation. You do not want to miss out, who knows, in 10 years’ time we may be announcing the ‘Foundational Friends of the Free Throw Foundation’ exclusively supporting those who have consistently supported us.’

The official launch of the ‘Friends of the Free Throw Foundation’ program will bring the South Australian basketball community together for a relaxed Sunday evening catch up at The Highway on the 1st of November. The more relaxed format will allow the board to acknowledge and thank our founding ‘Friends’ while welcoming and celebrating the new ‘Friends of the Foundation’.

Limited tickets are now on sale and expected to sell out!
